On the ballot
1 mayor and 6 councillors
Confirmed candidates
15, 3 running for mayor, 7 currently in office

North Saanich is largely rural and low-density, and holds the two gateways most of the region arrives through: the airport and the Swartz Bay ferry terminal. That gives its council a mix nowhere else has - farmland and large-lot residential policy on one side, and regionally significant transportation land on the other - alongside a long-running argument about how much new housing the municipality should plan for.

Everyone confirmed to be running in North Saanich in the 2026 municipal election. Each of them is sent the same questionnaire on transit, housing, climate, arts, and the rest of what a council decides, and a candidate's own page shows how each of their answers was graded. To compare them against each other and against the region, use the full scorecard filtered to North Saanich. For voting places, advance voting and the official candidate list, see North Saanich's own election page.

Grades in North Saanich

No grades are published yet. Responses and grades are released together on September 22, 2026, so until then every returned questionnaire shows an hourglass rather than a letter and there is no distribution to draw. The reply counts above are live in the meantime. How the grading works explains what happens between a reply arriving and a letter appearing.

Incumbency

Grouped by whether a candidate holds elected office now, used to, or is standing for the first time. Incumbency is role-specific on a candidate's own row — a sitting councillor running for mayor is not the incumbent mayor — and those two land in the same bucket here.

Electoral organizations

Slates, as a share of the whole North Saanich field rather than of each other: most candidates in this region have no slate recorded, and a chart of slate against slate would imply a race organized into them. Naming a slate is not an endorsement.
