Livable CRD is powered by community support. Contributions help the coalition build and publish a transparent, non-partisan candidate scorecard ahead of municipal elections in the Capital Regional District.
Before you give
To keep our fundraising transparent and compliant, a few rules apply to every contribution. Elections BC sets them, and states them itself on Making a Local Sponsorship Contribution:
- Maximum donation limit. The most any individual may contribute is $1,429.70 per year, in line with British Columbia's annual political contribution limit.
- Who can contribute. You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada and a resident of British Columbia. By donating you confirm that both are true of you.
- We record every contribution. Elections BC requires us to collect and keep the name and residential address of every contributor, no matter how small the contribution.
- Contributions of $100 or more are published. If you give $100 or more, Elections BC publishes your name and the amount in its Financial Reports and Political Contributions (FRPC) system. Contributions of less than $100 are not published there, but we still record and keep your details.
- Donations here are not anonymous. Under B.C. rules an anonymous contribution must be $50 or less and genuinely anonymous, such as cash left in a donation box at an event. Anyone who gives money to us directly, including through this page, cannot ask to be listed as anonymous.
- No corporate or union donations. We can only accept contributions from individuals. We cannot accept donations from corporations, unions, or other organizations.
- No donations from developers. To protect the independence of our scorecard, we will not accept contributions from real estate or property developers, or from anyone giving on their behalf.
- No donations from politicians or candidates. To keep our scorecard non-partisan, we will not accept contributions from sitting politicians, declared candidates, or anyone giving on their behalf.
